Wisdom story: Opportunities are everywhere you just need to see them

One day, a young boy went to the store with his mother. As they walked in, the shopkeeper noticed the small boy and smiled warmly. He reached for a large glass jar full of colorful candy and held it out towards the child. “Dear boy,” the shopkeeper said kindly, “you can take some candy. Go ahead, take a handful.” The young boy looked up at the shopkeeper and then down at the jar, his eyes wide with excitement. But to the shopkeeper’s surprise, the boy didn’t move. He simply stood still, staring at the candy without making a move to take any. Thinking the boy might be shy, the shopkeeper encouraged him again. “Don’t be afraid, little one. Take a big handful, as much as you like.” The boy still didn’t take any, and this time, his mother overheard the conversation. She looked at her son and gently said, “Go on, son. You can take some candy.” Even with his mother’s encouragement, the boy remained still, his small hands resting at his sides. The shopkeeper chuckled, assuming the child was too shy or hesitant to take the candy in front of everyone. With a warm smile, he reached into the jar himself and pulled out two full fists of candy, placing them in the boy’s tiny hands.

The boy’s face lit up with joy as he saw how much candy he had received. It was too much for his little hands to hold, so he turned to his mother and asked, “Mom, can I have a small bag to carry all my candy home?” His mother, amused by his behavior, gave him a bag. As they walked back home, curiosity got the better of her, and she asked, “Son, why didn’t you take the candy when the shopkeeper asked you to? He even asked twice!” The young boy beamed up at her with a clever smile and said, “Mom! My hands are so small. If I had taken the candy myself, I would have gotten much less. But did you see how big the shopkeeper’s hands are? He gave me way more candy than I could have taken on my own!” His mother laughed, realizing the wisdom behind her son’s simple yet smart decision.
