Wisdom story: The "key test" to see who to trust with what you love

There once lived a wealthy old man who made his wealth with many risky and successful business endeavors when he was younger.  And because of those, he was very well known in his town. His wealth brought him many friends he couldn’t trust and many love affairs in which there was no love. Because of all the disappointments, he went through in his personal life his biggest worry was who to trust with what mattered the most to him.

But still, with all the bad experiences the old man found himself in love once more. And this time his eyes and heart caught a young woman who was more than half his age. Not long after they got married the old man had to go on a business trip. Before the trip, he was very worried that his young wife would not remain faithful to him.

So, he ordered a “belt of loyalty” for his young wife, and, before leaving she hat to put it on. The only problem was where should he put the key so as nobody could find it? He didn’t want to take the key with him on the trip as he was afraid he would lose it. So he decided to entrust the key to the only friend he had, who was ninety-nine years old at the time and was no longer interested in women. The friend thanked him for his trust and promised he will keep his wife safe and untouched.

The old man felt very happy that everything turned out so well. The day he went on his trip he put on the belt on his wife, then he gave the key to his loyal friend. Because he was early he had a little bit of time left before the flight and so he decided to grab a quick cup of coffee. While drinking his coffee and feeling peaceful and at ease, he suddenly saw his loyal friend running towards him and shouting very loudly “You gave me the wrong key! You gave me the wrong key!!” At that moment the old man realized he still doesn’t know who to trust with what he loved the most.
