Funny story: Only two questions on the final exam

One evening, four college friends decided to enjoy a night out. They laughed, danced, and celebrated, completely ignoring the fact that they had a major exam the next morning. The thought of studying never crossed their minds as they reveled in the fun. When morning came, however, reality hit them hard. Panic set in as they realized they were completely unprepared for the test. Desperate to escape the consequences of their choices, they concocted a plan. They smeared grease and dirt on their clothes and faces to make themselves look disheveled and exhausted. Then, they hurried to the Dean’s office, putting on their most pitiful expressions. One of them, speaking on behalf of the group, explained their predicament. They claimed they had attended a wedding the previous night and, on the way back, their car had suffered a flat tire. With no other option, they had to push the car all the way back to campus. By the time they arrived, they were too exhausted to make it to the exam. They pleaded with the Dean for another chance to take the test on a different day. The Dean listened attentively, nodding as if considering their words carefully. When they had finished their tale, he simply smiled and said that he understood their situation. Then, to their relief, he offered them an opportunity to take the test three days later.

The students couldn’t believe their luck. They thanked the Dean profusely and left his office feeling victorious. They had bought themselves more time, and this time, they vowed to make good use of it. For the next three days, they did nothing but study. They locked themselves in their dorm rooms, reviewing every topic, taking notes, and testing each other. They avoided distractions, knowing that they had a golden opportunity to make things right. By the third day, they were more prepared than they had ever been. They walked into the Dean’s office with their heads held high, ready to ace the exam. The Dean greeted them with his usual warm smile and told them there was only one condition: they would have to take the exam in separate rooms. He explained that, since there were no professors available to supervise, they would also have to leave all their belongings in a special locker before starting the test. The students exchanged glances but saw no reason to protest. They were confident in their preparation and had no doubt they would pass with flying colors. Each student was led to a separate room, where a single sheet of paper and a pen awaited them. They took their seats, ready to begin.

Flipping over their exam papers, they saw just two questions:

Question ONE: Your Name __________ (1 Point)

Question TWO: Which tire burst? (99 Points)

A. Front Left

B. Front Right

C. Back Left

D. Back Right

At that moment, their confidence evaporated. Their hearts pounded as realization dawned upon them that they had not agreed on a single detail of their fabricated story. Their deception had come full circle, and there was no way out. The lesson was clear. Honesty, no matter how difficult, is always the best path. The consequences of dishonesty may not be immediate, but they always catch up eventually. The students left the exam room with heavy hearts, having learned a valuable lesson the hard way.
