What would you wish for?

One day a sales rep, and administration clerk, and their manager were walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, “I’ll give each of you just one wish.”

“Me first! Me first!” says the admin clerk. The  other two look at each other and nod. The clerk says “I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat without a care in the world.” Puff! She’s gone.

“Me next! Me next!” says the sales rep looking at the manager hopefuly. The manager nods and the sales rep says “I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.” Puff! He’s gone.

“Ok, you’re up,” the Genies says to the manager. The manager stands there for a couple of minutes thinking “Bahamas sounds nice. Also Hawaii sounds nice.” After a couple more minutes the manager finally  says to the genie, “I want those two back in the office after lunch.”

Lessons from this story:

  • You do not always have to be the first one to speak, or do something. Sometimes it is better to be patient.
  • Make sure others do not control your goals, and your dreams.
  • Do not wish for a genie lamp for your dreams to come true. Make plans, set goals and go after them. At least no one can take away your experiences and lessons learned while trying to achieve your goals.
